Always long waits here. Rough is really long and think which is a pain in
the ass. Although "Golf Digest" rated this course as the 8th "Best
Public Course" in the state for 1996, I say it's one of my least favorite. The
front nine was built on flat terrain, while the back nine was built in a valley. Water
hazards (seven ponds) come into play on seven holes. Some of the large greens are
elevated and all have subtle breaks.

Laurel

A favorite of the Liberty St gang. This serene course is teeming with
wildlife. The greens are somewhat small and flat, and the fairways are deceiving because
you can go out-of-bounds quite easily. The back nine is very hilly compared to the front
nine. In addition, water hazards come into play on three holes. "Golf Digest"
rated this course as the 7th "Best Public Course" in the state for 1996.
Montaup
Country Club Portsmouth, RI 508-379-9886

Have to know God to get a tee time at this semi-private course. A real
nice course if you can play it. Mornings are usually reserved for members. This
course has very mature, tight, tree-lined fairways. The terrain is gently rolling and
the undulating greens vary in size.

This well-maintained course has greens that are small and contoured.

into play on many holes.

This well-bunkered course was sculptured from a forest, so there are
numerous pine trees that can alter your shots. The rough is thick and unforgiving. The
undulating greens are fast and putt true. "Golf Digest" rated this as the #1
"Best Public Course" in the state for 1996.
