Check here for all the latest on the upcoming 2001/02 ski season. As of 10/1, here' the latest update:

  • PARTIAL SHARE IN - Beavis (depeding on cost), Justin, Monique (if Sun River)
  • PARTIAL SHARE POSSIBLES - Kara, Krissy
  • OUT - Dawn, Caroline, Randal, Miller,
  • MAYBES - Jeff work friend, Lahive, Kellly, Ross, Jenny, Miller's Jen, Kristin

Need decisions by 10/5 as I'm going to Vermont this weekend to get the house.

Options are listed in order of probability/preference.

OPTION 1 Killington 2-3 Bedroom FULL SEASON (6 months)
Get a 2-3 bedroom for roughly $7,000-9000 + utilities. If we only have 4-5
full shares, this becomes cost prohibitive at well over $2,000 each.  We
really need more people for this commitment. Need at least 6-7 $1,500 full
shares plus partials. Anyone have any one else? See
<http://www.skicountryrealestate.com/cgi-bin/rentbase?List> for available
properties.

OPTION 2 - Split a House at STOWE
A co-worker of mine who is a really nice guy just got a 3 bedroom house at
Stowe. Is doing 10-12 shares at about $1,000 each and has 4-6 shares
available. If only the definites are in, this could be our best option. The
season is not as long but gives us an awesome place to ski at a somewhat
affordable rate. I'll have more info Monday. If the fence goers can not make
a decision we may want to jump on this.

OPTION 3 - Sun River
Sunday River is 25% less expensive that Killington. If we only had 5 people,
this could be an option. The River is an awesome place to ski.

OPTION 4 - Killington PARTIAL SEASON
Rent months at a time rather than whole season. Maybe try for Jan and Feb
and do a ski trip out west. We never use the house 3 of the 6 months anyway.
Have no idea what the costs would be for this. Usually, you need to rent for
6 months but maybe owners will be more flexible since it's late in the
season.

OPTION 5 - Rent Weekends/Different Mountains
Pick 10  weekends and negotiate up front for a better price, Example, get
the 2 bedroom condos at Killington base rented every other weekend starting
Dec 1. Could even mix in some of the other ASC properties. This only works
if everyone tosses in the same amount. Can not do ala-carte weekends since
that's too complicated for me to manage. For 10 weekends, would be around
$5,000. Big drawback is no mid week and have to always check out on Sunday.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Jeff
